Carly Van Anglen and David Ferro work collaboratively on hand built and wheel thrown pottery and sculpture in their Glenside, Pennsylvania studio. They met in 1995 while attending the painting program at Tyler School of Art and have been together ever since. Dave became increasingly interested in clay after returning to Temple University to receive his MEd. in Art Education. He started teaching at Abington High School in 2000 and created a Ceramics program in 2003. Carly’s interest in pattern developed while working for a Philadelphia-based textile craft studio. They merged their interests in form and painting through their admiration of Iznik pottery, Italian majolica and Mexican talavera. Their current work explores movements in stylized form and color from nature and quotes from the rich history of their tin-glazed ceramic influences.
